Enthusiasm is contagious. When you spend a lot of time around someone who is up-beat and excited about life you get a kind of contact-high and it inspires you to action. That energy is what makes motivational speakers so effective. If you’ve ever been to a great seminar, you know exactly what I mean. You leave the event filled with renewed resolve to move forward and change your life, but after you return to your daily routine, life seems to get in the way and your enthusiasm dissipates. If you don’t feed it, the can flame flicker and fade. Even worse, if you are around negative people, they suffocate the light completely.

Andy Stanley, is such an inspiration in my life. When he speaks, he is so relevant that its almost eerie — like he knows my story and guides me in the right direction. And maybe that’s the point because every one of us is faced with decisions every day and those decisions determine our future. The choices we make are based on our frame of reference — what we have been through in the past and our attitude towards those events. When life throws us curve balls, its not always easy to adjust. It may help to remember that your reaction not only determines your direction, but it affects the lives of those around you, your family, friends and children.

They say hind-sight is always 20-20 because when you look back on your life you see pivotal points that directed your path. What do you see? Are there things you wish you could change — people you hurt — lives you impacted? When I wrote Wingless Butterfly, I unraveled my life and saw my story unfold first hand in vivid black and white. Not everyone does that, but in a sense, we all write our stories every day and the decisions we make determine what will be on the pages. What we do each day makes a difference.

I believe there is an innate passion within us all to not just survive, but to thrive. Your spirit doesn’t extinguish. It sleeps within you, waiting patiently for a spark to re-ignite the embers. You have the ability to tap in to the inner light at your core. If you surround yourself with inspiration — positive people will motivate you and feed the flame of the fire inside of you. The glow of its radiance will warm your spirit and the lives of those you touch.

We only get one chance in life to write the pages of our story — so write it well!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Casi
