As I wrote my book, I was continually amazed at coincidences that influenced its content. The serendipity of coming across a dusty piece of paper, yellowed by age, that had years before slipped from its worn tape and fallen to rest under my refrigerator, seems more than chance.
After washing my hands, my ring slipped from my fingers and rolled under the corner of my fridge. Annoyed at the incident, I pulled the appliance out and bent down on my hands and knees to search for my treasured possession. As I scanned the area, I noticed a piece of paper covered in dust and wedged between the pipes and metal. I carefully pulled it from its hiding place and glanced at the sheet as I tossed it towards the trash can. The simple word “Attitude”
caught my eye and I reached into the trash to retrieve the yellowed page, brushed off a scrap of food and as I read further. A chill ran through me. Divine intervention or just dumb luck, I couldn’t say, but the relevance of the words on that worn scrap of paper that just happened to fall into my hands at the precise time I was writing about my perspective was uncanny. This is what it said:
Attitude
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company … a church … a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past … we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude …
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you … we are in charge of our Attitudes.
-CHARLES SWINDOLL-
My mother must have told me hundreds of times, attitude isn’t anything … it’s everything! If you spend your life feeling like a victim, that is what you will always be. Have attitude … but be sure it is the attitude that will lead you to where you want to be.

All you need to add to this post is a nail and a hammer so you can hit it on the head.
Life is hard enough to deal with when you have a great attitude. When in doubt watch a child. They come in and out of drama all day long, but rarely does it really change their attitude. They just want to enjoy life. Just because we have adult responsibilities doesn’t mean we can’t have child-like attitudes.
