Have you ever wondered what makes you … you? Think about it. What is it about you that sets you apart and makes you unique? I’m not talking about your profession or accomplishments … not your house, car or bank account. I don’t mean the roles you play like a daughter/son, sister/brother, mother/father or friend? None of that defines who you are?
You know what I mean, the excitement that lives somewhere between your childhood dreams and your hopes for the future, your passion. There is an innate passion within us all. It inspires us to not just survive, but to thrive. It’s the spark that drives you, your focus or cause. It’s what makes you excited to jump out of bed in the morning and energizes your life.
Some people discover their passion early in their childhood. They may be child prodigies, outstanding athletes or creative geniuses. Sometimes we see them as the nerds in school. They often march to the beat of a different drummer. I have to wonder if Bill Gates or Steve Jobs was seen as a nerd in school. I wish I’d hooked up with some of the nerds from my high school! These are the people who overflow with passion. They are driven.
If you’ve been to a great seminar where you came home energized and filled with excitement ready to spring to some action to change your life, someone touched your passion. It’s infectious … and inspiring. It’s the fire that fuels change, and revolutions.
Everyone has it on some level, but some people have forgotten their childhood dreams and lost sight of their passion. They detoured off the path somewhere, got bogged down in day-to-day life and got lost … If you can’t let go of your past, or have low self-esteem, your passion is stifled. It sleeps inside of you, waiting patiently for a spark to re-ignite the embers, but you have the ability to tap in to the inner light at your core.
Don’t wait for a bucket list to find the passion in your life again. Look to your childhood dreams and they just might help you find it.
When you dare to find and live your dreams, you fuel your passion and the warmth of its radiance will renew your spirit and touch the lives of the people around you.
