What if you woke up one morning and found out that everything you ever believed about yourself was a lie? When you discovered the truth, it would change everything! That’s what happened to me, and like a butterfly, I went through a metamorphosis of mind, body and soul. I scratched my way out of the cocoon that had bound my heart and took flight in a whole new world.
My mother’s warning about my biological father haunted me for most of my life, “You don’t want to know him, Casi. He’s the kind of man who pulls wings off of butterflies.” With few memories of my childhood, I had no recollection of the father who I grew up believing had abandoned me, and the wound deteriorated my self-image. Eerie dreams of a faceless man combined with repeated failed relationships and ultimately catapulted me through a portal in time on the journey of my life. When I stumbled upon my secret past, I had to confront dark shadows that lurked in my soul and held my heart captive in psychological bondage. When the mystery of my mother’s metaphor unraveled, I realized I had to find the power to let go of deep-seated wounds if I were to ever find happiness and fulfillment in my life. My only hope was to obliterate the wall of fear, hurt, and deceit that loomed large and foreboding over me.
The life-altering search for my biological father revealed secrets and lies in my past that rekindled my passion for writing and inspired my memoir. But more than that, I discovered the passion and purpose that everyone deserves; the flame that energizes you to wake up each morning eager to greet your day. When your self-image is damaged, it’s hard to believe in yourself, but it’s that belief that drives you to live your passion. I know first hand that to achieve it, you have to believe it, and I’m dedicated to reaching out to the multitude women and men who’s self-confidence, has limited their lives. People who have been abused, abandoned, betrayed, teased, tormented or rejected; to encourage and empower them to let go of past pain, find their passion and and pursue their own dreams. I love this song, I believe, by Manowar in the video above . The silent war was waged centuries ago, but I believe that small battles can win and every soul deserves to soar. Please help me get the message out.
