Ideas Where Do They Come From?

I constantly get asked where I get my ideas from and here’s the funny thing: I have no clue. Yeah I know funny answer, but it’s the truth. Usually what happens is a character pops into my head and introduces themselves and basically says “Here I am, write my story.” Sometimes a scene between two characters will come into my brain and I start playing the what-if game. But I let them play out the scene before I start asking questions.

I’ve had characters talk to me

when I’ve looked at a photograph, or just sitting reading and one starts talking. Most recently I took a trip to England, Ireland, and Scotland. While sitting outside one morning and looking at the grounds, which were beautiful. There was this lovely stairway, that led down to an area that had a couple tables and chairs, and a gazebo. All the sudden this was a female voice in my head. “It’s my wedding day and I barely know the man I’m going to marry.” (Insert Gazebo jpg)

Needless to say, I whipped out my camera and started taking pictures while she talked so I would have them to refer to when I write the scene.

What also happened, is…

I’m writing a series of books about a family from Scotland, I hadn’t done much with the younger brothers yet, and while in Scotland both piped up telling me what their jobs are and how one is going to go to Scotland to get his bride.   Talk about flooring this writer.

Now I have lots of notes in my cell phone and photos to go through, but it’s all in good fun. So other authors and artists out there, where do your ideas come from?

Blurb

Rising Hollywood star Michael Levin is up for a career-launching role, and his potential co-star seems to think she’ll be next in his bed. He has no reason to stray. He has a sexy leading lady at home, Kelsey Pierce, who knows how to give him what he needs—her submission. But when the paparazzi insinuates the chemistry between Michael and his co-star is more than playing a role, Kelsey fears he’ll walk out on her like her past actor boyfriends. Can Michael convince Kelsey he’s the perfect leading man—and Dom—before it’s too late?
